Sheila Kernan : The Stories We Tell

Gibson Fine Art is pleased to present The Stories We Tell, the first solo exhibition in Calgary in more than two years by Calgary artist Sheila Kernan.

Kernan's paintings have never been so relevant. Her latest collection arrives at the denouement of the Canada 150 celebrations; it is a grand exploration of our country's vast landscape from coast to coast.  Kernan breathes life into the canvas with her trademark use of vivid colours and brushstrokes and playful use of paint, as she captures the most striking elements of her recent cross-Canada travels.

Kernan's star is steadily rising.  Earlier this sesquicentennial year, she was presented with Alberta College of Art and Design's Alumni Legacy Award, which recognizes ACAD alumni for demonstrating excellence in their practice and success in community involvement.  The Stories We Tell is another seminal milestone, as she presents her dedicated audience with visual delights again resetting the limits of aesthetic convention.
