Michelle Hoogveld
Calgary-born artist Michelle Hoogveld creates radiant abstract works that give form to the emotional and spatial power of colour, layering saturated palettes, geometric structure and expressive movement into compositions alive with rhythm and connection.
Hoogveld's visual language is rooted in geometric abstraction and abstract expressionism, setting hard-edged structure in dialogue with gestural movement. Her compositions feel at once precise and intuitive, layering colour, recurring forms and dynamic spatial relationships to draw viewers into an experience of rhythm, connection and emotional resonance.Colour sits at the centre of the practice. Saturated palettes, architectural forms, arches, waves, hearts and linear fields work at once as visual elements and emotional markers, balancing clarity with movement, structure with softness, and boldness with vulnerability. The result is a body of work that feels expansive, optimistic and alive.
