Maria Munar
Canadian/Colombian visual artist Maria Munar’s evocative works juxtapose the fluidity of the eternal with the stillness found in calming fragments vibrantly preserved and framed as allegorical abstracts. With orchestrated, elegant chaos, the artist preserves the fleeting in an immortal visual paradise, encapsulating that which can never last but which also forever endures.
Munar’s decadent sculptural collages curiously explore impossible arrangements, transposing seemingly unrelated foliage and form as intertwined and layered flora. Cascading within and spilling over in a whimsical, choreographed dance, the artist’s elegant bouquets gracefully collide in an explosion of soothing colour, like divine puzzle pieces destined to bloom in suspended time.
In Munar’s garden, nothing is impossible, and every moment and movement is an exotic emergence of blended memory, diversity and longevity that reminds viewers that when it comes to the exquisiteness of nature, magic is something one can actually reach out and touch.
