Verne Busby: New Works

9 - 23 February 2013

"This latest series of work brings together a variety of abstracted landscapes from Western Canada. Common to all the paintings are vantage points that are "High-Up" relative to a familiar perspective. The diverse range of locations provides a variety of unique lighting situations. Most of these works were completed en plein air or right on location. Every setting presents a distinct challenge with form, color, and atmosphere. To get these views I flew in a small plane over central Alberta, climbed the coastal ridges of west Haida Gwaii, sat among the Yukon peaks as well as the fall colors among the BC Rockies. Above all my favorite way to try to experience a new locale is to quietly interpret with paint and canvas."
