Meet The Artist
David Wilson
"For more than 25 years, I have worked full time as a visual artist, building a practice shaped by curiosity and sustained dedication. While largely self-taught, I have continued to expand my development through formal study, including time at Emily Carr University.

Over the course of more than 25 solo exhibitions and over 1,000 paintings, my work has remained focused on the passage of time within the urban environment. Working in acrylic on canvas and wood panel, I depict layered city spaces where light, architecture, and human presence suggest memory and movement.

In recent years, I have also explored cardboard as a substrate. Its material fragility reinforces the transient quality that runs through my work, reflecting the impermanence of people, places, and lived experience.

At its core, my practice is about observation. Through streets, interiors, and passing figures, I aim to create moments that feel familiar yet suspended in time, inviting viewers to reflect on their own sense of memory and place."

David Wilson works from a spacious studio located in a 110-year-old repurposed warehouse in Vancouver. The scale and character of the space support his process, allowing him to move between large canvases and more intimate works, while light, materials, and the surrounding city continue to inform his exploration of time, atmosphere, and urban experience.
